At the age of six Alla le Roux was taken by his parents to Klein Zoar – the house in
which Wolraad Woltemade stayed at the time of his epic rescue of the crew that got
shipwrecked in Table Bay.

Klein Zoar had a peach pip floor which made a lasting impression on Alla.  When he started renovating a house dating from 1860 in Paarl in 2004, his first objective was to take out most of the existing floors and replace them with peach pip floors.

After numerous experiments and trials Alla covered an area of approximately 90 m² with
peach pips.  It is now three years later and the floor is still as if it was laid yesterday.  The keen interest from visitors to the property prompted Alla to commercialise the concept.  Stonefruitfloors (Pty) Ltd was born.  The company now also houses all intellectual property in the form of a registered patent, design and trademark.

The floor consists of peach pips that are packed by hand and sealed with glue, resin and urethane. The sharp edges of the pips are grinded off, firstly to expose the warm red colour hue of the pips and secondly to make it very comfortable to walk on with bare feet. The floors are thus fully "handmade" and with a low carbon footprint.

Various new applications have been developed for staircases, showers, wall panels, kitchen tops and "flatties" without the cobble effect.  All applications can be designed and coloured to unique client requirements.  Current installations can be viewed by appointment - we like to show off!
